Monique Libby Rizzo, CID

NCIDQ Certificate No. 011961
Certified Interior Designer

From my early years, artistic influences shaped my sensibilities; guided by my immigrant grandmother, I immersed myself in the fine arts, mastering fashion, pottery, and cooking. My mother's talents as an artist and hair stylist infused our home with creativity, allowing me the freedom to curate our living spaces with an innate flair.

As my academic pursuits unfolded, my aptitude in architectural design and drafting became evident, yet it was the tactile allure of interior design that fueled my passion. Following graduation, a transformative internship at a prestigious design firm reinforced my need for creative autonomy. This pivotal experience spurred my departure, propelling me through diverse realms of interior design.

My journey into the design world took a decisive turn during a cooperative education program, where the contemporary interior of a design/build firm resonated with my evolving aesthetic. The allure of construction sites was tempered by a profound appreciation for the nuances found in interior design and architectural publications, solidifying my dedication to spatial aesthetics.

My professional journey has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence. I have cultivated a distinctive approach through client development, thoughtful space planning, detailed material selection, and a keen understanding of color science. My expertise extends to the procurement of furnishings and logistical finesse, resulting in spaces that harmonize functionality with an aesthetic allure reflective of my unique design perspective.

Jon Rizzo AIBD, ASID, CID

American Institute of Building Design American Society of Interior Designers Certified Interior Designer, Virginia Code Council Member, Building Safety Professional

When I was nine, I drew a picture and mailed it to the Art Instruction Schools. Unannounced, a school representative arrived at our door. Surprised at my youth, he said, “You have a talent, young man; call us when you graduate high school.”

When I finished school, internships were scarce, so I started my career as an in-house designer for a construction firm.  I used my artistic ability to convert client ideas into drawings and relied on my technical expertise to produce the plans.  Seeing my designs executed from concept to completion broadened my skills and construction knowledge.

My background taught me to understand and utilize the link from imagination to illustration to technical drawing. In design, imagination produces ideas that solve needs or problems in strikingly new and different ways. Illustrations explain these ideas, and technical drawings transform them into reality. The ability to use my skills and experience to help shape a client’s vision is a pursuit I relish. Ultimately, every client should expect these characteristics from a designer. Don’t you agree?

Our Testimonials

  • You have found an EXCELLENT person to work with. Jon may have mentioned to you that we worked together a few years ago on a group of smaller duplex condominiums at Mediterranean Ave and Lake Drive (11th Street). Jon’s INCREDIBLE creative approach to design made the difference in getting buyers interested. You can ride around the area and see all the monstrous rectangles that other builders put up. With Jon, he came up with lots of interesting architectural features that made the places unique and he designed interior layouts that were open and functional.
